emirates7 - The UAE has sent 25 ambulances, along with advanced equipment and medical supplies, to Angola as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare capacities in developing nations. This initiative aligns with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
This contribution forms part of a broader $220 million global initiative by the UAE to support Africa’s health sector. The initiative was initially announced by His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State and Chairman of the Health Advisory Committee for International Development, during the COP28 conference held in Dubai.
His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan emphasized the deepening bilateral ties between the UAE and Angola, particularly in healthcare—a sector in Africa that faces significant challenges due to inadequate infrastructure and resources, necessitating international collaboration.
He stated, "Enhancing healthcare standards and addressing challenges in the health sector are key components of the UAE's foreign aid strategy and a top priority for the nation."
Additionally, His Excellency Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Deputy Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, highlighted the UAE’s steadfast commitment to assisting less developed countries, especially in Africa. He pointed out that the combined impacts of climate change and economic hardship require robust international cooperation and unified efforts to address these pressing challenges.
