UAE leads region as fastest-growing clean energy market: Suhail Al Mazrouei

emirates7 - Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, underscored the UAE's leadership in clean and renewable energy, highlighting its vital role in stabilizing global energy markets and promoting sustainable development through substantial domestic energy investments.

He emphasized the UAE's balanced energy strategy, which integrates traditional and renewable energy sources, as a key pillar of the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050.

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, Al Mazrouei reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to its Net Zero 2050 Strategy by advancing ambitious renewable energy initiatives. He stressed the nation’s dedication to building a sustainable, diversified energy sector that fosters long-term growth and innovation.

Regarding electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, Al Mazrouei outlined the adoption of a national policy designed to encourage the use of electric and hybrid vehicles. This includes a strategic pricing framework for fast and regular charging services, which aims to attract investment in the necessary infrastructure.

Al Mazrouei also highlighted the UAE's outstanding performance in global energy competitiveness rankings, achieving top positions in seven key indicators in 2024 under the guidance of its leadership.

He reiterated the Ministry's commitment to sustainable development goals in collaboration with federal and local authorities. This involves implementing impactful projects that drive growth in national industries, with a focus on sectors such as petrochemicals, hydrogen, and ammonia.

These initiatives, he noted, are essential to cementing the UAE's status as a global leader in the clean and renewable energy sector.
