Beirut Port receives UAE ship carrying 3000 tonnes of relief supplies

emirates7 - The second UAE aid ship has arrived at Beirut Port, carrying 3,000 tonnes of relief supplies as part of the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign.

Launched in early October last year, the campaign is conducted under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with oversight by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and under the supervision of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Martyrs' Families Affairs, and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.

The aid ship was welcomed by Dr. Nasser Yassin, Head of the Government Emergencies and Minister of Environment in Lebanon, accompanied by Brigadier General Bassem Nabulsi, Chairman of the Supreme Relief Authority.

The shipment included a variety of food items, essential supplies for women and children, winter necessities, and shelter equipment, addressing the urgent needs of affected communities.

Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Vice Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, highlighted the UAE's unwavering moral commitment to supporting the Lebanese people impacted by the conflict. He noted that this commitment is rooted in the humanitarian values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who championed aiding nations in distress.

Al Shamsi emphasized the UAE's swift response to Lebanon's crisis, aimed at ensuring early recovery and stabilization. This effort was carried out in collaboration with Lebanese government bodies and international organizations.
