Seven projects to develop correctional, rehabilitation centres in Abu Dhabi

emirates7 - The Correctional and Rehabilitation Policies Committee of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department convened its regular meeting to evaluate the outcomes of seven technical development projects completed in 2024. These initiatives aimed to enhance the performance and effectiveness of correctional and rehabilitation centres across Abu Dhabi by integrating smart technologies and digital solutions.

The meeting, chaired by Counselor Youssef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, reviewed the impact of these projects on streamlining operational processes, implementing innovative centre management techniques, and advancing smart monitoring systems alongside alternative punishment frameworks.

Counselor Al Abri underscored the alignment of these efforts with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department. These directives prioritize developing innovative and sustainable correctional strategies to solidify Abu Dhabi’s status as a global leader in advanced, human-centric justice systems.

He explained that the overarching goal is to enhance the role of correctional facilities through cutting-edge programmes that rehabilitate inmates and support their reintegration as productive members of society. This is achieved by adopting global best practices and leveraging modern technologies to address evolving trends in criminal justice while upholding justice and the rule of law.

Additionally, Al Abri stressed the importance of tracking performance metrics related to alternative punishments and fostering collaboration with strategic partners. Such partnerships, he noted, are vital for achieving effective rehabilitation and the successful social reintegration of inmates.
