Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure marks notable achievements in 2024

emirates7 - In 2024, the UAE, through the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, achieved significant milestones across the energy, infrastructure, housing, and transportation sectors, reflecting its dedication to sustainable development and societal well-being, with a strong emphasis on innovation and technology.

Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, highlighted that these accomplishments stem from a strategic vision to balance urban growth with environmental sustainability. He emphasized the UAE's commitment to global cooperation in the shift to clean energy, aiming to strengthen joint investments and solidify its position as a global leader in clean energy development and export.

Energy Sector
The UAE continues advancing toward ambitious goals in clean and renewable energy, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and increasing the share of renewables in the national energy mix. Al Mazrouei announced plans for an additional AED500 billion investment over the next 30 years to achieve climate neutrality. Current energy production includes 6 GW from renewables and 5.6 GW from nuclear energy.

Infrastructure
Federal assets now include nearly 3,000 buildings, such as healthcare, educational, government service facilities, and mosques. Between 2018 and 2023, AED11.8 billion was invested in infrastructure projects and maintenance, with AED6.62 billion allocated to federal government buildings and AED5.18 billion to federal roads, dams, and waterways.

Housing Sector
Since its inception in 1999, the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme has issued over 90,000 housing support decisions worth nearly AED60 billion, enhancing family stability. In the past three years alone, approximately 13,000 decisions, totaling AED10 billion, were issued, significantly reducing pending applications by 95%. The "Manzli" bundle, introduced under this program, offers 18 integrated housing services, streamlining processes and cutting required documentation and service steps.

Maritime Sector
The UAE has reinforced its global maritime leadership by being chosen to host the 2025 World Maritime Day Parallel Event. The Ministry signed a cooperation agreement with NeoNautica to develop the "UAE Blue Pass Platform" and launched the Blue Pass Multimodal—a unified digital portal for integrating and accelerating multi-modal shipping. The UAE has actively contributed to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), presenting proposals that improved global maritime efficiency.

Logistics Sector
The UAE achieved impressive rankings in logistics performance in 2023: seventh globally, first for air transport infrastructure quality, and third in sea freight facilitation and ship fuel provision. It also ranked fifth globally in port infrastructure, fifth in road quality (first in the Arab region), ninth in port efficiency, 12th in maritime transport, and 13th in maritime connectivity.

Bureaucracy Reduction
Under the Bureaucracy Zero Programme, the Ministry eliminated 21 services and procedures, canceling nearly 745,000 government processes and reducing service completion time by 75%. These efforts saved 21 million customer hours, cut field and electronic visits by over 75%, and boosted customer satisfaction to 91%.

These initiatives underscore the UAE's forward-thinking approach to sustainable development, innovation, and global leadership.
