'Areeq', 'Shamikh' dominate in Liwa Festival's purebred Arabian horse races

emirates7 - The purebred Arabian horse races, held as part of the Liwa International Festival 2025, concluded yesterday, drawing top-tier horses and their owners to compete in two main events.

The first race, spanning 1,400 meters, saw Areeq, owned by Bin Asheer, take first place. Sama Al Ghareeba, owned by Hamdan Suhail Ali Salmin Al Mazrouei, secured second place, while Al Habe, owned by Ali Suhail Ali Salmin Al Mazrouei, finished third.

In the second race, covering a distance of 2,100 meters, Shamikh, owned by Saif Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Muhairbi, claimed victory. Safeer Al Thani, owned by Ahmed Mohammed Bin Al Muhairbi, came in second, followed by Maimoun, owned by Bin Asheer, in third place.

The races featured extensive participation and fierce competition, attracting a large crowd of equestrian and Emirati heritage enthusiasts.

This event is considered a valuable addition to the Liwa International Festival, which continues to establish itself as one of the region's leading cultural and sporting gatherings.
