emirates7 - Former Italy captain Andrea Pirlo has been named the new head coach of United FC, the Emirati second-division side confirmed on Friday.
The 46-year-old former AC Milan and Juventus star has signed a two-year contract with the club, also known as Dubai United, which competes in the UAE First Division League — one tier below the top-flight Pro League.
Pirlo, a pivotal figure in Italy’s 2006 World Cup victory, has previously managed Juventus, Turkish club Fatih Karagumruk, and most recently, Sampdoria, since hanging up his boots in 2017.
“We are delighted to have Andrea join the United FC family,” said club president Ilie Cebanu. “He represents the spirit and aspirations of our club, and we’re confident he will play a crucial role in guiding us forward.”
