Sharjah Consultative Council approves 2025 budget

emirates7 - The Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) has approved the draft budget law for Sharjah's government departments and entities for the fiscal year 2025.

The approval was granted during the council's sixth session, held at its Sharjah headquarters as part of its second regular session of the eleventh legislative term. The session was presided over by Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the SCC, and attended by key officials, including Walid Ibrahim Al Sayegh, Director General of the Sharjah Finance Department, Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, and other senior financial leaders.

During the session, Al Sayegh underscored the strategic importance of presenting the budget to the Consultative Council, highlighting its role in fostering collaboration between legislative and executive branches within the emirate. He noted that this interaction reflects their shared vision for building a robust institutional framework that integrates legislative oversight with executive implementation, ensuring the efficient achievement of development objectives.

Al Sayegh further explained that the budget aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. These directives aim to modernize the emirate's financial management systems using advanced technologies, thereby enhancing transparency, governance, and the emirate's capacity to address economic challenges.

He emphasized that Sharjah's leadership has established a roadmap for creating an innovative and adaptable government model, which the Central Finance Department is actively implementing in accordance with international best practices.

Council members stressed the importance of establishing effective mechanisms for project implementation and prioritizing expenditures to meet community needs while aligning with the aspirations of Sharjah's wise leadership.
