emirates7 - The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has announced the expansion of the Sanadkom initiative, which aims to streamline and simplify the procedures for families of the deceased, now extending its services to all residents of Abu Dhabi.
The initiative helps families navigate death-related processes, such as obtaining a death certificate, arranging burial, and preparing the deceased for repatriation, if needed.
Sanadkom is designed to ease the burden on grieving families by providing support during a difficult time. After a death notice is issued, the Sanadkom team promptly contacts bereaved families to offer condolences and assistance with necessary paperwork, sending a text message outlining the services provided.
In partnership with the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, the initiative covers all fees associated with issuing death certificates, ambulance transportation, embalming, and repatriation for residents.
Hind Al Zaabi, Executive Director of the Customer Experience and Relation Sector at DoH, stated, "Following the guidance of our wise leadership, we remain dedicated to delivering exceptional services to all community members. Understanding the emotional strain of losing a loved one, Sanadkom offers compassionate support to guide families through required procedures."
Families can now process death-related procedures directly at healthcare facilities where the death occurred. The attending doctor will assist with necessary steps, such as completing the death report and obtaining any required permits with the family’s consent.
The initiative, led by the Department of Government Enablement, unites the services of seven governmental bodies in Abu Dhabi, including DoH, Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, Abu Dhabi Pension Fund, SEHA, Abu Dhabi Distribution Company, and Al Ain Distribution Company.
Saeed Al Mulla, Executive Director of the Customer Experience Sector at the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi, remarked, "Since its launch in January 2024, the Sanadkom initiative has successfully assisted families in completing all necessary procedures and transactions."
