emirates7 - The World Governments Summit (WGS) Organisation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Latin American Centre for Public Administration and Development (CLAD) to foster cooperation and increase the involvement of Latin America and the Caribbean in WGS events.
The MoU also emphasizes sharing experiences and best practices to support the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
The agreement was formalized during the 29th International State and Public Administration Reform Conference held by CLAD in Brasília. This partnership complements the WGS’s ongoing efforts to engage with governments and organizations across Latin America.
The MoU was signed by Esther Dweck, Brazil’s Minister of State for Management and Innovation in Public Services and President of CLAD's Board of Directors; Mohamed Al Sharhan, Managing Director of the WGS Organisation; and Conrado Ramos, Secretary-General of CLAD.

"The UAE’s participation in the conference demonstrates our strong and expanding ties with Latin America, across a broad range of sectors," he remarked.
"The WGS is focused on strengthening global partnerships, particularly in Latin America, in line with our mission to shape the future by connecting countries, international organizations, experts, and CEOs. These efforts aim to drive innovation and help governments address global challenges together, leading to positive change," Al Sharhan added.
During the visit, the WGS delegation met with government officials and business leaders from Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil, discussing cooperation with the Global South and Latin American nations. They explored the region's potential in key areas such as trade, technology, and climate innovation.
The delegation also presented the WGS to the Mexican Senate, with Gerardo Fernández Noroña, President of the Mexican Senate, and María Teresa Mercado Pérez, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, in attendance.
In Colombia, the delegation met with Efraín Cepeda Sarabia, President of the Colombian Senate; Saúl Cruz Bonilla, Secretary-General of the Senate; and Juan Manuel Santos, former President of Colombia and Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
The visit included a keynote address on the future of governance and the significance of government development at the CLAD Ministerial Board meeting in Brasília, attended by Ministers of Public Service and Government Development from Latin America.
