emirates7 - Zayed International Airport (AUH) has been named the World’s Most Beautiful Airport at the prestigious Prix Versailles, The World Architecture and Design Award, for its exceptional architectural design in the Airports category.
The announcement took place at a ceremony held at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, coinciding with the airport’s first anniversary and the 53rd Eid Al Etihad celebrations.
Within just one year of operations, Zayed International Airport secured the top honor in this highly competitive category, establishing a new global benchmark for airport design and excellence.
This recognition highlights AUH’s innovative design, which harmoniously combines advanced technology with the UAE’s rich cultural heritage. Spanning 742,000 square meters, the airport features a striking X-shaped design capable of handling up to 11,000 passengers per hour and accommodating 79 aircraft simultaneously.
With a capacity to manage up to 45 million passengers annually, the airport is pioneering advancements such as the world’s first nine biometric touchpoints, expected by 2025.
