emirates7 - According to a report from Yonhap News Agency, the Republic of Korea boasts one of the most advanced fifth-generation (5G) communication network infrastructures among OECD member countries.
As of last year, Korea led in the number of 5G base stations per capita, with 593 stations per 100,000 people, surpassing Lithuania and Finland. This figure far exceeds the OECD average of approximately 100 stations.
When it comes to 5G connections per 100 residents, Korea ranked second with 63 connections, just behind the United States at 68.4, and significantly higher than the OECD average of 38.6.
Additionally, Seoul offered the most affordable triple-play communication packages—which bundle TV, internet, and voice services—among all OECD nations.
The report also highlighted a 39% increase in communication sector investments across OECD countries over the past decade, driven by growing network demand amid the rise of remote and digital economies.
