emirates7 - Etihad Airways has entered into a strategic codeshare agreement with Taipei-based STARLUX Airlines, enhancing customer access to Northeast Asia and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s role as a key hub connecting East and West.
Unveiled at the International Air Transport Association Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, the partnership allows Etihad passengers to easily connect to major Japanese cities such as Nagoya, Sapporo, and Fukuoka via Taipei. Meanwhile, STARLUX travelers gain direct access to Etihad’s European network through Abu Dhabi.
Etihad is set to launch daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Taipei starting 7th September 2025, using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. This new route serves as the foundation for the codeshare deal, positioning Taipei as a gateway for Etihad’s growth in Northeast Asia.
Arik De, Etihad Airways’ Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, stated, “This collaboration with STARLUX Airlines unlocks new market possibilities in Northeast Asia, providing our customers with access to key business and leisure destinations in Japan through Taipei.”
Simon Liu, Chief Strategy Officer of STARLUX Airlines, commented, “Partnering with Etihad Airways is a major step in STARLUX’s global expansion, establishing the groundwork for future routes into Europe.”
This codeshare agreement complements Etihad’s ongoing strategic network growth, which now includes service to over 90 destinations worldwide.
