emirates7 - Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has announced the signing of a partnership agreement with Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) to explore bauxite-related project opportunities in Ghana.
Ghana is home to over 900 million tonnes of bauxite reserves, spread across one major and two smaller deposits. The country currently produces approximately 1.5 million tonnes of bauxite annually.
Through this agreement, EGA and GIADEC will investigate possibilities for long-term bauxite supply contracts as well as collaborate on developing rail and port infrastructure to boost production capacity.
Abdulnasser bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, stated that this initiative supports EGA’s strategy to diversify its upstream supply sources as it expands metal production, including plans for a new greenfield primary aluminium plant in the US announced during President Trump’s recent UAE visit. EGA aims to double its bauxite output within the coming years by pursuing various global opportunities, with Ghana being a key focus.
