UAE contributes $25,000 to support participation of least developed countries, small island developing states in UNHRC

emirates7 - At the pledging meeting to fund the Trust Fund for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), the UAE committed $25,000 to the Fund’s budget.

Ambassador Jamal Al Musharakh, the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organizations in Geneva, emphasized that the contribution is aimed at ensuring the inclusion of all countries in international discussions. It also seeks to enhance technical support to strengthen multilateral efforts and ensure the active participation of LDCs and SIDS in the work of the Human Rights Council.

He highlighted that supporting these nations is an investment in creating a more inclusive and equitable global society.

This contribution is part of the UAE's ongoing foreign aid efforts, which focus on promoting economic growth, addressing challenges such as climate change, and committing to poverty reduction, peace, and prosperity.

The Voluntary Trust Fund, established in 2012, helps LDCs and SIDS engage in the work of the Human Rights Council by relying on voluntary contributions from member states and offering training programs for their delegates.
