emirates7 - The Abu Dhabi Government is showcasing an array of innovative AI-driven projects and an elite hackathon at GITEX Global 2024, highlighting its mission to establish the emirate as a global leader in AI-based governance.
Over 30 government entities and partners are participating under the Abu Dhabi Pavilion, themed "Towards an AI-native Government."
On the first day of GITEX, key initiatives included the launch of a four-day cyber hackathon and the introduction of "GovGPT" by the Department of Government Enablement (DGE), "Bayaan – The Unified Decision-Making Platform" by the Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi (SCAD), and "AI ALC Audiobooks" by the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT).
The "DGE Elite Hackathon" is designed to identify top cyber talent across the UAE by inviting university students with skills in defensive and offensive security, threat intelligence, and vulnerability assessment. Participants will engage in a dynamic environment where they must defend their systems while attempting to breach their opponents' networks, dealing with advanced, live cyber threats. This four-day event will conclude on Friday, offering a competitive showcase that goes beyond traditional "Capture the Flag" exercises, encouraging innovation, collaboration, and strategic thinking.
DGE also introduced GovGPT, an AI-powered knowledge agent developed for Abu Dhabi Government employees. GovGPT offers self-service features and a growing suite of AI tools, such as a PowerPoint Builder and Tone-of-Voice checker, to streamline daily tasks and improve departmental productivity by making it easier to access resources and information.
Meanwhile, SCAD presented Bayaan – the Unified Decision-Making Platform, an advanced data hub that improves data collection, analysis, and visualization. Serving as a centralized repository for diverse datasets, Bayaan equips government bodies and private organizations with actionable insights, facilitating informed decision-making. By incorporating predictive analytics and machine learning, the platform promotes proactive solutions to emerging challenges, fostering transparency and collaboration across sectors. Ultimately, Bayaan aims to enhance public services, increase community engagement, and improve residents' quality of life.
The DCT also launched AI ALC Audiobooks, an initiative to incorporate AI technology into the publishing industry. The project features ten titles from the "Emirates Documentation" series, showcasing important Emirati publications. Using a rich archive of audio recordings, the system analyzes contextual pronunciation and sentence structure, enhancing the overall audiobook experience. This aligns with the UAE government's vision to invest in AI while promoting cultural heritage.
From October 14th to 18th, the Abu Dhabi Government will continue to present its cutting-edge solutions at GITEX Global 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, emphasizing AI-driven projects and data-centric decision-making, reinforcing its commitment to utilizing technology for the betterment of its citizens.
