emirates7 - Evgeny Kozlov, Chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee, announced a significant increase in tourists from the UAE visiting Moscow, with numbers rising to 62,100 in 2024 from just 18,000 in 2019.
In an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Kozlov emphasized the city's tourism attractions, particularly those designed to cater to visitors from the Gulf region.
He noted that Moscow boasts many halal restaurants and offers Arabic-speaking services to ensure Gulf tourists feel comfortable. The city has established five tourist information centres, located in the city centre, river stations, and the Dream Island amusement park.
These centres provide assistance in both English and Arabic. Additionally, a new Tourist Information Centre in partnership with Sberbank has opened, where visitors can obtain a Tourist card and receive support.
For 2024, a Muslim-Friendly Guide to Moscow was created specifically for Middle Eastern travelers, highlighting recommended restaurants, hotels, popular seasonal activities, landmarks, parks, and shopping destinations.
Kozlov also pointed out the introduction of electronic visas (e-visas), which have streamlined the entry process for many nationalities, making it easier to travel to Moscow.
He further described Moscow as a city rich in cultural, fashion, and culinary experiences, along with year-round entertainment and international events.
This summer, Moscow launched a lively season of festivals and cultural happenings. The Moscow Estates Festival features immersive programs at over 40 historic estates. Theatre Boulevard is hosting 600 performances by 3,000 artists across 14 outdoor venues during a record 92-day run.
The Gardens and Flowers Festival transforms public spaces into vibrant floral displays, while the "Street. Dance and Street. Art" initiatives bring open-air dance, music evenings, and plein-air art sessions to central Moscow’s Strastnoy Boulevard, including free workshops and exhibitions.
Moreover, Moscow offers a wealth of cultural and historic landmarks such as the Kremlin, Red Square, and Alexander Garden. Visitors can experience the Bolshoi Theatre and explore the Moskino Film Park’s immersive cinema tours. The modern Moscow-City area features skyscrapers and one of Europe’s tallest observation decks.
Tourists can also visit 14 “Made in Moscow” art pavilions showcasing local crafts and unique souvenirs. The Green Market highlights more than 700 leading brands under the "Made in Moscow" initiative.
Kozlov highlighted that Moscow ranks among the greenest megacities, with over 140 parks and natural reserves. Projects like Zaryadye Park and Gorky Park blend ecological design with public engagement. The city’s use of smart lighting, waste management, and eco-friendly transport supports its sustainability goals.
He concluded by affirming Moscow’s ongoing commitment to offering a welcoming, comfortable, and modern tourism experience for visitors from around the globe.
