emirates7 - The Endowments and Minors’ Trust Foundation in Dubai (AWQAF Dubai), in partnership with the Community Development Authority (CDA), has introduced the ‘SANED’ initiative via Dubai’s Community Contributions Platform, Jood.
This initiative aims to a sustainable charitable endowment to assist low-income families. The proceeds generated will be allocated to fulfilling the food requirements of families registered with the CDA.
The endowment features a residential building in the Dubai South district, which includes 40 apartments spread over five floors, along with parking facilities.
Valued at AED30 million, the project is anticipated to yield an 8 percent revenue return, funding AED1,000 SANED cards for beneficiary families to buy essential food items.
The ‘SANED’ initiative encourages participation from government and private entities, as well as businessmen and philanthropists, allowing them to contribute to this sustainable charitable cause. Funds raised will support the distribution of SANED cards to eligible families, ensuring their food needs are consistently addressed.
Hessa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority (CDA), stated, “The SANED initiative reflects the values of cooperation and solidarity that are deeply rooted in our society. By establishing this charitable endowment, we aim to collectively meet the food needs of vulnerable groups, including orphans, widows, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and low-income citizens. Our shared goal is to enhance their quality of life and alleviate the challenges they face.”
Ali Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of AWQAF Dubai, commended the productive collaboration with the CDA, emphasizing that this joint effort bolsters charitable and endowment initiatives within the emirate. He expressed confidence that the community would support the SANED endowment through contributions via the Jood platform, noting, “The initiative is intended to a permanent investment to fund SANED cards, providing sustainable food support to those in need.”
Al Mutawa highlighted that the ‘SANED’ endowment is a community project open to contributions from all sectors, reinforcing social solidarity and humanitarian cooperation, and offering everyone the opportunity to assist those in need.
The SANED card initiative, launched by AWQAF Dubai, enables beneficiaries to make purchases at participating outlets using the card. To date, 3,000 SANED cards valued at AED3 million have been distributed to support families in need.
