emirates7 - Dubai International Chamber, one of the three chambers under Dubai Chambers, facilitated 180 bilateral business meetings between Dubai and Serbian companies in Belgrade. This marked the first phase of the chamber’s trade mission to Serbia and Türkiye under the New Horizons initiative, which aims to help Dubai companies expand into promising global markets.
Representatives from 13 private sector companies in Dubai, covering a range of industries such as electronics, food and beverages, pipeline products, information technology, airport services, retail, textiles, and energy solutions, participated in the mission.
As part of the mission, Dubai International Chamber organized a business forum in Belgrade, titled *Doing Business with Serbia*, with support from the UAE Embassy in Belgrade and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia. Speakers included UAE Ambassador Ahmed Almenhali, Serbia’s Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović, and Milovan Kocić, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia. The forum drew 208 participants, including senior government officials, business leaders, and Serbian companies eager to explore partnerships.
During the event, Dubai Chambers signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to boost collaboration between the two business communities. The agreement includes organizing trade missions, conferences, and business events, as well as sharing knowledge and expertise to foster growth and innovation.
Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, stated that the trade mission aligns with efforts to strengthen Dubai’s economic relationships globally, offering opportunities for Dubai-based companies to form new partnerships in markets like Serbia. He expressed confidence that the mission would enhance bilateral trade and solidify Dubai's standing as a global business hub.
According to Dubai Customs, non-oil trade between Dubai and Serbia reached AED 233.9 million in 2023. At the end of the first half of 2024, 202 Serbian companies were registered as active members of Dubai Chamber of Commerce, with 39 new businesses joining during that period.
Hassan Al Hashemi, Vice-President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, presented on Dubai’s economic advantages for Serbian businesses during the forum. A panel discussion followed, where experts from key sectors in Serbia shared insights on the local business landscape and their experiences operating there.
