emirates7 - The Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of three chambers under the Dubai Chambers umbrella, has revealed the agenda for Sustainability Week 2024, scheduled for October 7-11. The five-day event will center on the role of digitisation and artificial intelligence (AI) in promoting sustainable business practices.
Organised annually by the chamber's Centre for Responsible Business, this year's Sustainability Week will focus on innovative ideas that harness advanced technologies to boost sustainability efforts. A key theme is the use of AI to practical sustainability solutions, with the aim of accelerating the private sector's adoption of sustainable business practices.
Maha Al Gargawi, Vice President of Business Advocacy at Dubai Chambers, stated, "We are dedicated to empowering the private sector to play a more effective role in sustainable development. Sustainability Week 2024 will examine the latest trends, best practices, and innovations, particularly those involving advanced technologies and AI, to sustainability solutions across various sectors."
The event will begin with a seminar discussing the impact of AI and digital technologies on sustainability. Ahmad Bin Byat, Founding Chairman and CEO of Zaina Investments and Vice Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, will deliver the keynote speech. The day will also feature a panel of experts discussing how digital solutions and AI can contribute to achieving sustainable development goals, alongside sessions on best practices, supply chain efficiency improvements, and innovations in recycling through digital technologies.
A special forum on digital strategies for the circular economy will also be part of the programme. This forum will include an interactive simulation and discussions on how AI, the Internet of Things, and big data analytics can improve resource efficiency, reduce waste, and support long-term sustainability.
Additionally, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce will host the 12th edition of the Arabia CSR and Sustainability Forum during Sustainability Week 2024. Organized by the Arabia CSR Network and under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy, the forum will focus on the theme "Sustainable Prosperity: Reorienting for a Balanced Future."
