Enhancing technical expertise in judicial system strengthens UAE’s leadership position: UBF Chairman

emirates7 - Abdulaziz Al-Ghurair, Chairman of the UAE Banks Federation (UBF), commended the recent directives issued by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council. These directives are designed to regulate the process for selecting and appointing technical experts who appear before Dubai's judicial bodies and to establish the Dubai Judicial Technical Expertise Centre.

Al-Ghurair noted that these measures will enhance the UAE's reputation as a leading global financial and economic hub. He welcomed the initiatives, stating that they will help improve the speed, efficiency, and transparency of the judicial system while providing a framework for utilizing expert technical opinions in commercial cases.

He emphasized the judiciary's key role in strengthening the UAE's appeal as a destination for business and investment. "Confidence in the legislative, regulatory, and judicial frameworks is essential for the development of the wider economic sector, especially in the financial and banking industries," he said.

Al-Ghurair also highlighted that the UAE's legislative framework creates a secure and supportive environment for both individuals and institutions, as evidenced by its strong international rankings and attractiveness for talent, business, and investment.

He added that creating a specialized centre for judicial experts will aid in reaching fair decisions by incorporating expert technical insights into judicial processes. This development aligns with the UAE’s advanced legal framework, such as the Commercial Transactions Law of 2022, which promotes economic activity by setting clear rules, enforcing contracts, and fostering a favorable investment climate.

“At UBF, we work closely with the Central Bank of the UAE to ensure customers have a safe and seamless banking experience,” Al-Ghurair remarked.

He also stressed that a legal and judicial system adhering to international best practices promotes transparency and fairness in resolving disputes, boosting business confidence and encouraging investment in the UAE’s economy.

Al-Ghurair further noted that updating the criteria for expert registration will help attract top talent across various fields, expanding the range of expertise available to meet the growing demand for judicial services driven by the UAE’s economic and commercial growth.
