emirates7 - Etihad Cargo, the logistics division of Etihad Airways, is marking ten years of successful operations in Vietnam, underscoring its dedication to supporting the country's growing trade and economy, particularly in the high-tech and manufacturing sectors.
Since launching freighter services in July 2014, Etihad Cargo has steadily expanded its presence in Vietnam. Initially, the airline operated two A330 freighter flights per week to Hanoi, providing 120 tonnes of cargo capacity.
Today, Etihad Cargo runs four weekly Boeing 777F freighter flights, offering 400 tonnes of capacity to meet rising market demand. The airline has been instrumental in transporting high-tech products for major global brands like Samsung, Apple, Dell, and LG, as well as garments, textiles, footwear, and other goods from Vietnam to markets in Europe, the US, the Middle East, and Africa.
Beyond Hanoi, Etihad Cargo also serves Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's second-largest air cargo hub, with two weekly charter flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Kuala Lumpur, creating a reliable cargo solution via Kuala Lumpur. Additionally, the carrier partners with interline operators to provide access to key Asian hubs such as Denpasar, Singapore, Phuket, Bangkok, and Manila.
Etihad Cargo's SecureTech product, designed to meet the growing demand for electronic shipments, has seen significant growth in Vietnam. In 2024, SecureTech shipments from Hanoi increased by 43 percent year-on-year, rising to 5,174 tonnes compared to 3,618 tonnes in the same period of 2023. This surge reflects Vietnam's vital role in the global electronics supply chain and Etihad Cargo's capability to deliver secure logistics solutions for sensitive high-tech goods.
Commenting on this milestone, Stanislas Brun, Vice President of Cargo, stated, "Etihad Cargo's decade of success in Hanoi and Vietnam showcases the airline's long-term commitment to this dynamic market. By continuously improving products and services, increasing capacity, and investing in digitalisation, Etihad Cargo ensures that its customers receive the top-quality air cargo solutions they rely on."
