Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Siemens Energy to drive green energy

emirates7 - The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Siemens Energy to collaborate on advancing green and clean energy initiatives in the UAE. This partnership focuses on addressing future challenges related to grid infrastructure, promoting sustainable development, supporting climate action, and exploring technological opportunities for energy transition and reliable grid operations.

The MoU was signed by Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, and Khalid bin Hadi, Managing Director of Siemens Energy in the UAE, during the World Utilities Congress hosted by TAQA.

Under the agreement, the two sides will collaborate in several areas, including knowledge-sharing through technical workshops and brainstorming sessions, proposing innovative solutions for grid expansion and reliability, enhancing industrial development, and working with local universities and research institutions on energy transition. Another key focus will be developing skills and expertise in clean energy among youth.

Additionally, the MoU aims to assess the existing grid infrastructure to integrate renewable energy and align with sustainable energy transition strategies. It also includes analyzing the hydrogen value chain, such as large-scale hydrogen production, storage, and its potential impact on the UAE's energy landscape and industrial economy.

Al Olama expressed satisfaction with the partnership, emphasizing its role in supporting the UAE's energy objectives and commitment to a sustainable economy powered by clean energy. He highlighted the importance of such collaborations with leading companies like Siemens Energy in adopting innovative sustainability solutions that offer both economic and environmental benefits.

Khalid bin Hadi echoed these sentiments, affirming that, alongside the MoEI, Siemens Energy would work towards developing sustainable technology solutions to drive energy transition and tackle climate change, in line with the UAE's ambitious vision.
