emirates7 - Awaidha Murshed Al Marar, Chairman of the Department of Energy (DoE), has announced that a new unified water management strategy for Abu Dhabi will soon be introduced. Speaking at the World Utilities Congress 2024 in Abu Dhabi, Al Marar explained that the strategy was developed in collaboration with various stakeholders to align the current state of the water sector with future objectives, aiming to maximize the efficient use of available water resources.
The strategy covers the entire water cycle, from production and distribution to consumption, and includes monitoring the value added by water, assessing water loss, and identifying the best practices for optimizing usage and promoting conservation.
Al Marar emphasized that the strategy is designed to harmonize sector-wide goals, increase data transparency, encourage the launch of new initiatives, and outline strategic actions to support national objectives and enhance overall performance.
He also reiterated the DoE's commitment to introducing new policies and regulations that will ensure the sustainability of Abu Dhabi's water and electricity sectors. These measures are intended to improve service quality, reduce costs, and lower environmental impacts, all of which contribute to sustainable development and economic growth.
While Abu Dhabi’s water and electricity production already aligns with international best practices and offers affordable rates, Al Marar stressed the ongoing need for efficient resource management and responsible consumption.
