Jordan Parliament passes two amended constitutional articles

emirates7 - Jordan Lower House on Monday passed two amended constitutional articles.

Lower House passed Article 4 of the draft amendment to Article 40 of the Constitution and Article 5 of the draft amendment to Article 44 of the Constitution.

The amended constitutional articles state that the King appoints the Director of Public Security, Supreme Judge, Sharia Judicial Council President, Chief of Royal Hashemite Court and King’s advisors without the approval of Prime Minister or Ministers.

Lower House rejected the proposal of the King’s power to allocate two members of the National Security Council and Foreign Policy.

The amended constitutional articles also prevent ministers to purchase any of the state property even through auctions.
