emirates7 - Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is sponsoring the 10th ‘Aftir’ campaign, an initiative of the Ramadan Aman campaign by the Al Ihsan Charity Association in Ajman.
The campaign aims to distribute 100,000 Iftar meals daily to needy families during Ramadan. Many DEWA staff volunteer to distribute the meals to families with limited income and people of determination who are sponsored by the Association.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, commended Al Ihsan Charity Association for its efforts to promote good deeds, giving, solidarity, and cohesion which are instilled in Emirati society. The Association presents the noble values of Islam and noble principles of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the month of tolerance, worship, and benevolence.
"DEWA adopts an approach of giving and good deeds following the path of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. DEWA strives to become one of the largest contributors in supporting the integrated and sustainable system for volunteering in the UAE and Dubai. This is achieved by launching and sponsoring several leading humanitarian and volunteering initiatives in the UAE," said Al Tayer.
"Early on, DEWA has adopted clear strategies for corporate social responsibility to balance the economic, social, and environmental development needs through a clear framework for integrated organisational work to serve society, make it happier, and support social development. Between 2013 and 2021, DEWA launched 380 social initiatives. 36,514,842 individuals in the UAE and abroad benefitted from these initiatives. DEWA’s employees recorded 162, 493 volunteering hours during this period," said Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Government Communications at DEWA.
