emirates7 - Sharjah Press Club (SPC), affiliated with the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), has announced a new training initiative as part of the seventh edition of its Ithmar media training program.
Ithmar is one of the UAE’s prominent media initiatives dedicated to empowering children and youth by providing practical training that keeps up with the latest media industry trends.
The seventh edition will start on July 14th and last for one month. During this time, Ithmar graduates will receive specialized training in podcast production and hosting.
This training is delivered in partnership with CNN Arabic and a group of experienced media professionals skilled in vocal production and audio storytelling.
Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of SGMB, highlighted that the program reflects Sharjah’s long-term commitment to investing in future generations. Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the program aims to equip young people with essential skills for self-expression, responsibility, and media professionalism.
He emphasized that podcasting enables participants to build a positive digital presence that can reach and inspire broader audiences, aligning with Sharjah’s vision of a people-centered media model.
In this edition, participants will gain hands-on experience in all stages of podcast creation—from idea generation, scriptwriting, recording, to editing. This process allows them to share their interests and viewpoints while developing their analytical, critical thinking, and communication abilities.
Building on the success of six previous editions, which have trained over 450 participants and provided 200 hours of workshops since its launch, this year’s program targets participants aged 10 to 15. They were selected through nominations by former Ithmar graduates interested in audio content, followed by evaluation from a specialized committee to ensure their enthusiasm and dedication.
Graduates of the program have had opportunities to participate in major local and international events such as the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF), the Global Media Congress, and the Saudi Media Forum.
Ithmar’s outstanding impact was recognized with the Kuwait Creativity Award for its role in preparing the next generation of media innovators.
