emirates7 - Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, said that the Watch & Jewellery Middle East Show (WJMES), which is organised biannually by the Centre, has achieved great successes across its 49 editions.
In an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), he said that they currently considering organising small-scale jewellery shows at Expo Al Dhaid and Expo Khor Fakkan, bringing the number of jewellery shows hosted in the Emirate of Sharjah annually to five.
Al Midfa explained that, with the 50th edition of WJMES set to kick off next October, they aspire to establish the event as the top jewellery in the Middle East and Africa region, especially as it is set to see various additions and surprises, including a special fashion to exhibit the latest jewellery collections.
He noted that the successes of WJMES are the product of the directives and unlimited support of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the dedication shown by the organising teams.
"During the past editions, we were able to identify top markets in the field of jewellery and precious stones, and the different tastes and needs of audiences," Al Midfa said. "Despite the challenges that the region is currently witnessing, we were able to make the latest edition of WJMES a success at all levels."
He explained that the Jewels of Emirates show, which was organised by the centre during the COVID-19 pandemic under the directives of the Ruler of Sharjah to continue hosting major events, exceeded the expectations of exhibitors, and inspired them to host a second edition, with the third currently under preparation and expected to feature a wider participation and more diverse content.
Al Midfa noted that WJMES helps drive the emirate's economy, as it helps boost contributions to the tourism, hospitality and transport sectors.
