emirates7 - The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has unveiled its School Break Camps Programme, an initiative aimed at delivering diverse and enriching activities during school holidays through partnerships with leading organisations.
Following the success of its summer camps earlier this year, ADEK is committed to offering a steady stream of camps for every school break. This initiative supports students’ holistic development and equips them with skills for future success.
Beginning December 16, the programme will feature camps across various domains, including arts, sports, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Arabic literacy, culinary arts, and environmental education, promoting continuous learning outside the classroom.
In collaboration with renowned partners such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi, students can explore their creativity through the Art Lab Camp, creating artwork inspired by the Suhail Star and Khaleeji mythology, and the Space Camp, where they will participate in scientific and artistic activities fostering teamwork and innovation.
On the sports front, Manchester City, Sport 360, and Storm Academy will offer intensive two-day training camps in football, basketball, and swimming. Outstanding performers will gain entry to ADEK's talent identification programme, with opportunities to train under elite coaches from Manchester City, Jr. NBA, and Olympian Sarra Lajnef.
Aspiring chefs can join the Culinary School Camp by ICCA, which provides a hands-on learning experience in cooking, pastry-making, and food photography, helping participants hone their math, chemistry, and artistic skills.
For Arabic enthusiasts, the Arabic Reading Camp by Almubarakah Foundation encourages a love for reading and strengthens literacy through engaging activities. Younger participants can immerse themselves in Arabic culture with the Beit Arabi Winter Discovery Camp, a two-week programme covering language, drama, and creative arts.
Environmental education is a key focus in the Environmental Heroes Camp by Gracia Farm, where students will learn about sustainability through activities such as eco-tours, recycling, and conservation projects.
High school students will have the opportunity to engage in advanced STEM and AI-focused camps in partnership with leading universities. Highlights include the AI for Tomorrow Camp by 42 Abu Dhabi, featuring an intensive Discovery Piscine bootcamp that challenges participants in programming and concludes with an AI Hackathon.
Other STEM-focused options include AI for a Sustainable Future by Khalifa University, AI Discovery Programme by Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Prompt Engineering by UAE University, Data Science & AI Training by UAE University, Creating with AI by NYU Abu Dhabi, and the AI Winter Camp by Abu Dhabi University. These programmes aim to enhance AI literacy and build essential technical skills for the future.
