Sultan bin Ahmed chairs first Judicial Council meeting

emirates7 - His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Judicial Council, presided over the council’s inaugural meeting on Saturday morning at the Ruler’s Office in Sharjah.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed opened the session by welcoming the council members and expressing gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his trust, guidance, and continued support.

He reaffirmed the council's commitment to fulfilling the Ruler’s directives aimed at managing and organising the judiciary in Sharjah, while upholding principles of judicial independence, integrity, and equality.

Acknowledging the significant contributions of the council members, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed emphasised their critical responsibilities in strengthening the judiciary. He highlighted the council’s focus on leveraging technological advancements to improve judicial services, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and client satisfaction.

Additionally, he underscored the importance of human resource development and training to enhance the judicial system, with a particular emphasis on increasing Emiratisation rates to achieve strategic goals. He reaffirmed the council’s dedication to maintaining the judiciary’s strong reputation and positive image.

Key topics discussed during the meeting included proposed legislation for regulating the judiciary in Sharjah, the action plan for the transitional phase, and strategies for collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and federal entities.

To ensure a smooth transition without disrupting judicial services in the emirate, the council approved the formation of a special committee. This committee will comprise council members and representatives from relevant government entities within Sharjah.

The meeting was attended by prominent judicial and legal figures, including Sheikh Faisal bin Ali bin Abdullah Al Mualla, Secretary-General of the Judicial Council; Dr. Mansour bin Nassar, Chairman of the Sharjah Government Legal Department; Judge Dr. Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, Chairman of Sharjah Court; Judge Ahmed Abdullah Al Mulla, Chairman of the Court of Cassation; Judge Dr. Omar Obaid Al Ghoul, Head of the Courts of First Instance; Judge Abdul Rahman Sultan bin Taliah, Head of the Courts of Appeal; Judge Dr. Salama Rashid Salem Tamim Al Ketbi, Head of the Judicial Inspection Department; and Counselor Anwar Amin Al Harmoudi, Attorney General and Head of the Public Prosecution Authority.
