Sultan’s nurturing yields future leaders: Jawaher Al Qasimi

emirates7 - Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of Rubu' Qarn for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, attended the closing session of the 17th Sharjah Children's Shura Council and the 8th Sharjah Youth Shura Council on Sunday at the Sharjah Consultative Council's headquarters.

Several prominent government officials joined the session, including Sheikh Saud bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director-General of Digital Sharjah; Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority; Hanadi Al Yafei, Director-General of the Child Safety Department under the Supreme Council for Family Affairs; and Aisha Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director of the Legislation Department for the Government of Sharjah. Also present were Board of Trustees members from Rubu' Qarn and community institution representatives led by Sheikha Jawaher.

Her Highness expressed her pride in the council members' active participation and ideas shared with Sharjah government representatives.

She congratulated the young participants, saying, "This parliamentary initiative has evolved over 25 years to instill a sense of responsibility in children, helping them develop an awareness of their rights and duties while representing their national identity for future generations. It is a unique experience within Sharjah, inspired by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, who continually supports this council."

Her Highness noted that the skills and abilities developed at this stage would prepare these young leaders to represent their community, address its needs, and support the emirate’s governance and legislative processes, emphasizing that these roles are about public service and positive change.

She cautioned members against seeking titles or media attention, urging them to focus on meaningful contributions to the emirate's development.

The session’s discussions centered on artificial intelligence (AI) in legislation. Her Highness stressed the need for an ethical and legal framework to oversee AI, given its potential impact on privacy and security.

She remarked, "AI offers tremendous potential to shape society's future, enhancing skills and promoting social progress. Significant changes lie ahead, making it vital to prepare for these shifts." She added that ongoing learning, as advised by the Ruler of Sharjah, is essential for engaging with technological advancements in the digital age.

Madiya Saif Al Tunaiji, Chairperson of the Sharjah Children's Shura Council, highlighted the council’s importance in addressing children's issues and noted AI's role in developing skills and values among youth, expressing gratitude to Sheikha Jawaher for her support.

Al Jazia Ahmed Al Zaabi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Youth Shura Council, emphasized AI's role in the future while stressing the importance of upholding human values in this technological era.

The Children's Council members emphasized the importance of values and legislative frameworks in AI, while the Youth Council discussions focused on preserving Emirati identity, increasing collaboration between "Digital Sharjah" and "Child Safety," and establishing ethical guidelines for AI, including its impact on the job market.

In response, government representatives emphasized the importance of ethical AI awareness and praised the state's initiatives in this area, supporting the youth’s efforts to understand both the technical and ethical aspects of AI.
