Etihad Airways celebrates two decades of connecting India to Abu Dhabi and Beyond

emirates7 - Etihad Airways, the UAE's national airline, is celebrating 20 years of operations in India this month.

The airline began its services to India’s commercial hub, Mumbai, on 26th September 2004, followed shortly by New Delhi on 1st December 2004.

Over the years, Etihad’s network in India has grown significantly, and with the addition of new flights to Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, and Jaipur earlier this year, the airline now serves 11 destinations across the country.

Etihad has also increased its seating capacity between Abu Dhabi and India by adding more flight frequencies to cities like Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. This year, the airline is operating over 50 additional flights per week to India compared to last summer, offering passengers greater flexibility and better connection options.

Marking the occasion, Antonoaldo Neves, Etihad Airways CEO, stated, "India is a key market for Etihad, and we are thrilled to celebrate 20 years of service to this remarkable country. When Etihad first launched flights to Mumbai in 2004, it was our 8th international destination. Since then, we’ve grown to serve 80 destinations, with a goal of reaching 125 by 2030."
