According to the airline's August 2024 traffic data, the total number of passengers over the past 12 months surpassed 17 million, nearly 70% higher than the total for 2022. In August alone, Etihad carried 1.7 million passengers and achieved an average passenger load factor of 89%, highlighting strong performance during the summer holiday season.
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, noted, "Our passenger numbers for August saw a significant rise compared to the same time last year, indicating our ongoing growth momentum. Despite increasing our capacity from 2023, we maintained a solid load factor of 89% in August, which underscores the growing popularity of Etihad among travelers."
He further mentioned that the airline's operating fleet has expanded to 95 aircraft, up from 79 in the previous year. The addition of 16 new aircraft over the past year reflects the company's ambition and dedication, while consistently achieving a load factor above 86%. Neves also highlighted that the last two of the six A321neos scheduled for 2024 were brought into service in August, and the airline now serves 10 more destinations compared to the same period last year. This expansion strengthens Etihad’s network and reinforces Abu Dhabi's status as a global aviation hub and a top tourist destination.
