emirates7 - The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with INSEAD, the renowned international business school, to enhance collaboration in the areas of energy and water efficiency, sustainability, and behavioral change.
This partnership aims to promote sustainable development and bolster Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global energy center.
The MoU was signed by Eng. Mohamed Saleh Al-Hadrami, Acting Director of Energy and Water Efficiency Performance at the DoE, and Zeina Sleiman, INSEAD’s Global Director of Alumni Engagement and Learning, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
Eng. Ahmed Al Falasi, Executive Director of the Energy Efficiency Sector, noted that the partnership will enable the implementation of impactful, scalable initiatives to encourage responsible resource use and support the goals of the Abu Dhabi Demand Side Management and Energy Rationalisation Strategy 2030.
Zeina Sleiman expressed her enthusiasm for the agreement, describing it as a proud moment and a key step toward fostering knowledge exchange and practical collaboration in energy efficiency and sustainability.
The MoU seeks to facilitate the sharing of expertise, enhance institutional capabilities in energy efficiency, analyze consumer electricity and water usage patterns, and launch joint pilot initiatives aimed at improving resource management and raising public awareness.
The partnership will also involve conducting benchmarking research on energy use and creating data-driven approaches to support sustainable policy-making. A core component of the agreement is to form strategic alliances following pilot project evaluations to maximize their long-term impact.
Central to the MoU is the mutual exchange of information, the conduction of joint research, and the assessment of pilot programme outcomes, ensuring a strong framework of institutional cooperation between the DoE and INSEAD.
