emirates7 - H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Port & Customs Ajman (DPC) and Hutchison Ports, a global leader in port investment, development, and operations. The agreement outlines a joint investment of AED 1 billion aimed at expanding and upgrading Ajman Port’s infrastructure.
As part of the MoU, a comprehensive development plan will be created in line with top international standards. The initiative aims to boost port efficiency, safety, and speed, attract new shipping lines, support digital transformation, and implement AI-driven solutions for port operations. The 15-year plan will guide the port’s management, operation, and growth, reinforcing its role as a critical logistics hub in the region.
Sheikh Ammar expressed his support for the MoU, describing it as a key strategic initiative that highlights Ajman’s importance and contributes to achieving the emirate’s Vision 2030 goals. He affirmed that Ajman offers a dynamic and investment-friendly environment, supported by an evolving business climate that opens new avenues for both local and international investors. He emphasized that enhancing the port’s infrastructure represents an investment in Ajman’s future in trade, food security, and economic development.
He also stressed the importance of the port’s development in strengthening the local economy by improving supply chains and facilitating import-export activities through sustainable and environmentally friendly infrastructure, while also nurturing local talent with advanced port management skills.
The MoU was signed by Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Department of Port & Customs Ajman, and Andy Tsoi, Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa Division at Hutchison Ports.
Sheikh Dr. Mohammed noted that the agreement aligns with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, and H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi. He said it reflects their commitment to forming strategic partnerships focused on technology transfer, expanding investment avenues, and establishing an advanced operational system that adheres to global standards in maritime and logistics services.
He added that the MoU represents a significant step in solidifying Ajman Port’s position within the UAE and the broader regional maritime transport network—especially since the partnership with Hutchison Ports has already demonstrated success at Ajman Port since 2011.
