Khalifa University brings UAE-led healthcare innovations to Abu Dhabi Global Health Week

emirates7 - Khalifa University of Science and Technology's College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) is participating in the 2025 Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week (ADGHW), organized by the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi. The university's involvement highlights its significant contributions to life sciences and translational medicine.

During the event, CMHS will showcase a range of advanced research initiatives and national health programs that align with the theme of healthy aging and precision health. On Day 1, Professor Habiba Alsafar, Dean of CMHS, will take part in a panel discussion titled "Novel Therapeutic Strategies for Healthy Longevity," moderated by Dr. Mira Mousa, Assistant Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology.

Professor Alsafar emphasized, "Our participation in ADGHW 2025 underscores Khalifa University's ongoing dedication to global collaboration and innovation. The diverse contributions from CMHS reflect the university's pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare in the UAE, driven by scientific excellence, community focus, and a commitment to innovation."

Khalifa University will present ten groundbreaking innovations, including 'CareX,' an AI-driven system for remote diagnosis and chronic disease management, and '3D-printed polymeric knee implants' designed to mimic human bone, marking a UAE-first in biomedical materials and design. Other projects include research on neurodegenerative diseases in children with autism spectrum disorder.

The university will also showcase the Emirati Reference Genome Project, aimed at creating a population-specific reference genome for the UAE, as well as a One Health genomics study that tracks the spread of antimicrobial resistance. Other highlights include the anti-diabetic effects of camel milk, the Maternal and Infant Health Monitoring System (now operational in 18 Abu Dhabi hospitals), FallGuard, a wearable device for real-time fall detection and caregiver alerts, Bioelectronic Chips for precision diagnostics, and IGenRare, an AI-powered assistant for diagnosing rare diseases more accurately.

With the introduction of new PhD programs, expanded master's courses, ISO-accredited research labs, and a growing number of biotech startups, Khalifa University's CMHS is continuously advancing the UAE's research and innovation landscape.
