emirates7 - Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has inaugurated the Project Management Training Centre at the DEWA Campus for Occupational and Academic Development in Al Hudaiba.
Accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI), the new centre will eventually offer advanced programmes not only for DEWA staff but also for employees of government entities, private sector organisations, DEWA subsidiaries, and the wider public. The initiative builds on the strong outcomes of DEWA’s internal training efforts.
Al Tayer highlighted that Dubai has become a global benchmark in delivering major projects that meet the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and sustainability. He stressed that with rapid technological advancements, project management plays a vital role in strengthening competitiveness, driving institutional growth, and ensuring the successful achievement of strategic goals. By adopting a structured and scientific approach to planning, execution, and monitoring, organisations can balance quality, time, and cost, while also enhancing resilience, innovation, and data-driven decision-making.
He added that DEWA’s collaboration with PMI has enabled the delivery of world-class project management training for its employees, and the new centre will extend such opportunities to a broader audience across public and private sectors.
According to Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, by the end of 2024, around 280 DEWA staff had earned the globally recognised Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, while another 120 obtained other PMI credentials.
Notably, DEWA became the first Dubai Government entity in 2010 to be recognised as a certified training partner for PMI-accredited project management programmes.
