emirates7 - Under the guidance of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE continues to place human health and well-being at the forefront of its priorities, as evidenced by its global humanitarian initiatives, particularly through “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3.” This campaign encompasses extensive healthcare programmes that underscore the country’s unwavering dedication to providing medical assistance, especially in regions impacted by the Gaza conflict.
A cornerstone of these efforts is the establishment of a fully equipped Emirati field hospital in the Gaza Strip, boasting a 200-bed capacity. The facility features state-of-the-art operating rooms, intensive care units, and emergency departments, all supported by a diverse and highly qualified international medical team.
Since opening, the hospital has treated over 51,000 patients, focusing on severe injuries and intricate surgeries. The UAE has also launched a major prosthetics programme through the hospital, offering artificial limbs to amputees, with the goal of aiding their recovery and reintegration into daily life.
Additionally, the UAE has supplied more than 750 tonnes of medical aid and pharmaceuticals to healthcare facilities in Gaza. This assistance includes crucial medical equipment and power generators to maintain uninterrupted health services.
Among the standout efforts is a broad polio vaccination drive that has immunised over 640,000 children, serving as a vital step in protecting future generations from life-threatening illnesses.
To meet urgent health needs, the UAE has also facilitated the evacuation of patients from Gaza for treatment within the country. This initiative has so far supported over 1,000 children and another 1,000 cancer patients, offering them comprehensive medical care, including surgeries, rehabilitation, and mental health support.
Complementing these efforts is the deployment of a floating field hospital to Al Arish in Egypt, with a 100-bed capacity. Staffed by specialists in general surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, and intensive care, the hospital has treated more than 10,000 patients arriving through the Rafah crossing. It provides a full spectrum of emergency and advanced surgical services in a safe, high-standard medical environment.
These holistic humanitarian efforts reflect the UAE’s firm belief that investing in healthcare is essential to the prosperity of nations and highlight its deep-rooted values of compassion, solidarity, and generosity.
