emirates7 - Juan Ayuso of UAE Team Emirates-XRG secured one of the most significant victories of his budding career, claiming the overall title at Tirreno-Adriatico in Italy at just 22 years old.
The young Spanish rider demonstrated remarkable consistency from the outset, finishing second to Filippo Ganna (Ineos-Grenadiers) in the opening time trial, setting the stage for his strong performance throughout the race.
Ganna put up a determined challenge to defend the leader's jersey, but Ayuso seized his opportunity on Stage 6, launching a decisive solo attack on the climb to Frontignano to claim victory.
His triumph on the race’s Queen stage ultimately cemented his overall win on the penultimate day, while Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) won the final sprint on the last stage from Porto Potenza Picena to San Benedetto del Tronto (147 km).
UAE Team Emirates-XRG also earned the title of the best team in the competition, highlighting their collective strength as they celebrated their 18th win of the season.
Reflecting on his achievement, Ayuso stated, “I’d say this is my biggest victory alongside La Itzulia, but since I also won a stage here, I’d consider this my best performance so far.”
Final General Classification:
1 – Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) 28:41:24
2 – Filippo Ganna (Ineos-Grenadiers) +35″
3 – Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain Victorious) +36″
