Singapore Airlines bans use of power banks during flights from April 1

emirates7 - Starting April 1, 2025, Singapore Airlines passengers will no longer be permitted to charge portable power banks using onboard USB ports, nor can they use power banks to charge personal devices during their flights.

The airline announced that power banks will only be allowed in cabin baggage and are strictly prohibited in checked baggage.

Passengers can carry power banks with a capacity of up to 100Wh without requiring special approval, while those between 100Wh and 160Wh will need the airline's approval.

As per the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations, these power banks are classified as lithium batteries, which Singapore Airlines adheres to, the airline added.
