emirates7 - The UAE rescue team continues its mission to combat the large-scale wildfires sweeping through several regions of Albania.
Since their deployment, the team has carried out 28 specialised aerial operations with two Black Hawk helicopters, executing 700 accurate water drops on fire hotspots. In total, more than 1,298 tonnes of water have been used, playing a vital role in containing the blazes and curbing their spread.
These intensive efforts are being carried out under difficult conditions, including soaring temperatures and challenging mountainous terrain. The operations are conducted in close partnership with Albanian authorities to ensure effective coordination.
The team began its firefighting mission in the forests of Gramsh and Ballolli, as well as the coastal area of Vlorë and other affected zones, following the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to assist Albania in bringing the wildfires under control.
Regular coordination meetings are being held between the Emirati team and Albanian officials to accelerate firefighting operations and ensure constant monitoring of extinguished areas to prevent the fires from reigniting.
