emirates7 - The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Etihad Airways have unveiled the new Abu Dhabi Pass at ITB Berlin, the world’s largest tourism trade fair.
The Abu Dhabi Pass offers a fully digital experience, simplifying access to the emirate’s various offerings. Etihad passengers will receive an email with a link to access the pass through a dedicated website, requiring no additional cost or app download.
This complimentary pass provides several benefits for Etihad passengers and visitors to Abu Dhabi, including a tourist SIM card with 10GB of data, unlimited access to public buses, and 24-hour access to the hop-on-hop-off tourist bus, which covers key city attractions.
Abdulla Yousuf, Director of International Operations at DCT Abu Dhabi, commented that the launch of the pass underscores their commitment to improving the visitor experience by offering seamless access to Abu Dhabi’s diverse attractions and cultural landmarks. The initiative aims to present the emirate as a top global destination to a broader audience, facilitating the promotion of Abu Dhabi's offerings by tourism stakeholders.
Aysha Al Kaabi, Vice President of Commercial Enablement & Engagement at Etihad Airways, emphasized that the collaboration with DCT Abu Dhabi makes visiting the emirate’s attractions more convenient and enjoyable. The combined offering of transportation, connectivity, and attraction discounts in one digital pass makes it easier for visitors to explore the emirate’s cultural and family-friendly experiences.
The launch follows the success of Etihad's stopover program, which saw 85,000 international visitors in 2024, up from 12,000 in 2023. Etihad anticipates hosting over 130,000 stopover guests in 2025, representing a more than 50% year-on-year increase. Visitors who book through etihad.com can also benefit from a complimentary hotel stay of up to two nights during their stopover, turning the journey into two vacations in one.
Pass holders will enjoy exclusive discounts, including 15% off at top cultural venues like Qasr Al Watan and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, as well as special rates at Yas Island attractions such as Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, SeaWorld Yas Island, and Yas Waterworld. The pass also offers deals at over 200 restaurants and savings on popular experiences like desert safaris and guided city tours.
The Abu Dhabi Pass supports Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030, enhancing the visitor experience with improved offerings and connectivity. It is aligned with the strategy’s goals of attracting 39.3 million visitors, creating 178,000 new jobs in the tourism sector, and contributing AED 90 billion to the emirate’s GDP by 2030. This is further supported by new infrastructure projects like Terminal A at Zayed International Airport and an expanding calendar of cultural and entertainment events.
