'Call of the People of Qiblah' signed at Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference in Bahrain

emirates7 - At the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference in Manama, Bahrain, participants endorsed "The Call of the People of Qiblah", a charter designed to promote dialogue and mutual understanding among various Islamic sects and schools of thought.

The conference, attended by over 400 scholars and religious leaders, included the presence of His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders.

Rooted in the fundamental unity of the Muslim Ummah—ordained by Allah as a singular, balanced, and exemplary nation—the declaration seeks to reinforce bonds of brotherhood, compassion, and solidarity among Muslims.

The statement emphasized that Islamic fraternity is deeply ingrained and enduring, transcending mere geographical or ideological proximity. It acknowledged that differences in doctrine and jurisprudence are both natural and legitimate, asserting that such diversity should be respected rather than diminished or forcibly merged. Attempts to unify various schools of thought in a way that erases their distinctions were deemed impractical and unnecessary.

The charter urged members of the *Muslim Ummah* to recognize key elements that will enable its revival and enhance its role on both the Islamic and global stages. It also reaffirmed that the unity of the *Ummah* is a sacred and inviolable covenant, which must be upheld, reflected in daily conduct, and integrated into education and religious discourse.

Bahrain hosted the inaugural session of the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference under the patronage of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on 19th–20th February.
