emirates7 - Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched a new reservoir in Hatta with a capacity of 30 million imperial gallons (MIG) of desalinated water.
The AED86 million project includes the construction of supporting buildings and the installation of entrance and exit pipes.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, stated that the Hatta reservoir project aligns with the Comprehensive Development Plan for Hatta, aiming to boost water flow, expand the emirate’s water reserves to meet growing demand, and improve the efficiency and reliability of water networks to support Dubai’s sustainable development.
Al Tayer also mentioned that DEWA has already commissioned two water reservoirs in Lusaily and Enkhali this year, and is constructing a 120 MIG reservoir in Hassyan. The total storage capacity is expected to reach 1,121 MIG by the first quarter of 2025.
