ADFD signs agreement to finance AED183.5 million social housing project in Côte d’Ivoire

emirates7 - The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has signed an agreement to finance the first phase of the Social Housing Program in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The initial phase will see the construction of 25,000 housing units, with a total investment of AED 183.5 million (US$ 50 million).

This marks ADFD's first project in Côte d’Ivoire and represents a significant milestone in the Fund’s commitment to sustainable development in the country. It also reflects ADFD’s broader goal of expanding its impact across Africa.

The agreement was signed by Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of ADFD, and Bruno Nabagné Kone, Minister of Construction, Housing, and Urban Planning of Côte d’Ivoire. The ceremony was attended by Robert Beugré Mambe, Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, Vacaba Diaby, Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to the UAE, and other officials.

Al Suwaidi emphasized that the partnership addresses housing challenges for low-income families in Côte d’Ivoire, demonstrating the Fund’s commitment to advancing international development cooperation. He noted that the project aligns with ADFD’s mission to support the development goals of nations and promote sustainable economic and social growth across Africa and beyond.

Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambe expressed gratitude to the UAE and ADFD for their support of Côte d'Ivoire’s development initiatives. He highlighted that the financing for the Social Housing Program marks the start of a strategic partnership between the two nations, strengthening their growing bilateral relations.

The agreement is a key step towards meeting critical housing needs and contributing to a more sustainable future for Côte d'Ivoire.
