emirates7 - Italian fashion excellence is poised to shine at the upcoming Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) with the debut of "La Moda Italiana: Dubai Edition." This showcase, part of the Spring/Summer 2025 edition of DFW, is co-founded by Dubai Design District (d3) and the Arab Fashion Council and will take place from 1st to 7th September.
Organized by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) in collaboration with DFW, this exhibition marks its first appearance in the UAE and offers fashion enthusiasts a chance to explore the latest trends in Italian fashion. Open to the public from 1st to 3rd September at d3, part of TECOM Group PJSC, the event underscores the growing importance of Italian fashion in the UAE market.
The Dubai La Moda Italiana Edition will feature 25 renowned Italian brands showcasing a wide array of fashion items, including clothing, footwear, leather goods, and eyewear. These brands, carefully selected by the ITA, represent the highest standards of Italian craftsmanship and quality, bringing the best of Italian fashion to Dubai. The exhibition is part of a busy schedule of designer runway shows and exclusive events throughout DFW, which also recently announced the iconic Italian luxury label Roberto Cavalli as Guest of Honour.
This collaboration between the ITA and DFW highlights the strong cultural and economic ties between Italy and the UAE. By using the Spring/Summer 2025 edition to promote Italian brands, DFW solidifies its role as a gateway to strategic partnerships and markets, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a global fashion hub.
Lorenzo Fanara, Italy's Ambassador to the UAE, remarked that Italy is synonymous with style, beauty, and a passion for quality, encompassing lifestyle, culture, art, fashion, food, and wellbeing. As the world’s second-largest apparel exporter, Italy's success lies in its integration of top design and production standards, with a focus on high-quality and sustainable textiles. In 2023, Italy's fashion exports to the UAE reached €838 million and continue to grow.
Fanara also noted that fashion is the leading sector in Italy's digital exports, accounting for about 66 percent of online sales of Made in Italy consumer goods. With the launch of "La Moda Italiana: Dubai Edition" by the ITA, alongside DFW, Confindustria Moda, and 25 leading Italian brands, Italy will showcase its finest fashion offerings to a distinguished audience of key stakeholders.
Valerio Soldani, the Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, expressed excitement about the inaugural Italian Fashion Showcase at Dubai Fashion Week. He highlighted the hard work behind this first edition, marking a significant milestone in enhancing and expanding the activities that support the growth of Made in Italy in the key global market of the Emirates. As of April 2024, Italian fashion exports reached €378 million, reflecting a 38 percent increase, with Italy delivering excellence across all "total look" industry verticals.
Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of Dubai Design District (d3), part of TECOM Group, emphasized the long-standing mutual appreciation between the UAE and Italy for culture, heritage, and passion, which has strengthened bilateral trade and cooperation. She noted that DFW’s collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency further enhances these foundations, promoting collective economic growth through the fashion sector.
