Sharjah's 2025-2026 cultural programme to organise more than 40 events

emirates7 - The Sharjah Department of Culture has announced the launch of its annual programme of permanent festivals and forums, scheduled to run from September 2025 to August 2026.

The plan features more than 40 cultural events at the local, regional, and international levels, reinforcing Sharjah’s prominent role in fostering cultural, intellectual, and creative exchange.

Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department, said that hosting over 40 festivals and forums reflects the cultural momentum Sharjah continues to pursue under the vision and directives of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. He noted that the initiative embodies the emirate’s efforts to embed culture, arts, and creativity as central pillars of society and to promote cultural dialogue globally.

Al Owais stressed that the programme represents a practical expression of Sharjah’s ambition to consolidate its position as a hub for culture, thought, and the arts, while affirming its ongoing commitment to supporting creativity across diverse fields.

He added that the variety of cultural events enriches the intellectual landscape by providing Arab writers, artists, and thinkers with a dynamic platform to showcase their work and participate in seminars, theatrical performances, and other creative gatherings.

This activity is further strengthened by literary awards offered by the Department to encourage talent, alongside tributes to distinguished cultural figures whose contributions have significantly shaped the cultural scene. The strong public engagement in these events, both locally and internationally, has turned them into a distinctive cultural phenomenon that reflects Sharjah’s global cultural presence.
