MBZUH enrols 24 students in inaugural 'Linguistic and Cultural Immersion' programme

emirates7 - Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities (MBZUH) has enrolled 24 students from various countries in its inaugural Linguistic and Cultural Immersion programme, which will run until December 21, 2024.

The programme is designed to foster cultural and civilisational communication based on shared human values while promoting the UAE’s positive image globally. Participants will gain direct exposure to the noble values embraced by Emirati society.

The programme offers an introduction to the UAE’s rich, authentic, and diverse heritage, deeply connected to local customs and traditions. It provides international students the chance to immerse themselves in Emirati culture, meeting various community members to learn about local customs, traditions, Emirati folklore, and traditional medicine.

In addition to cultural immersion, the programme includes intensive workshops to improve participants' Arabic speaking and writing skills, along with literary reading sessions to enhance their understanding of the Arabic language.

The students will also visit numerous sites in Abu Dhabi, including art and culture museums, historical landmarks, and festivals. They will have the chance to attend national and cultural events as part of over 60 activities organized by MBZUH.

Dr. Khalifa Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of MBZUH, highlighted that the initiative aligns with the university’s vision to promote shared values and improve human and civilised communication. He noted that the programme underscores the university's belief in the power of language and cultural exchange to foster coexistence, tolerance, and dialogue between nations. This, he emphasized, helps build secure and stable societies and cultivates individuals who respect cultural diversity.

Dr. Al Dhaheri further stated, "The Linguistic and Cultural Immersion programme exemplifies the role of educational institutions in teaching cultural communication as a way of life. It marks a significant shift in efforts to bridge civilisational divides, promote tolerance, and provide participants with hands-on experiences, direct dialogues, and activities that offer a closer look at authentic Arab customs and traditions deeply rooted in our heritage."
