emirates7 - Fog and low visibility were reported in several parts of Abu Dhabi this morning, prompting alerts from both Abu Dhabi Police and the National Center of Meteorology (NCM). Authorities urged motorists to drive with extra caution and follow safety guidelines to avoid accidents.
Abu Dhabi Police reminded drivers to adhere to the reduced speed limits displayed on electronic boards and emphasized this message in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stressing the importance of complying with the changing speed restrictions to keep roads safe.
The NCM also issued a weather advisory, warning that horizontal visibility could worsen in some coastal and inland areas until 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. Earlier in the morning, fog formed over Al Hamra in the Al Dhafrah region, as well as in Habshan, Liwa, Hamim, and Asab in Abu Dhabi.
For safe driving during foggy conditions, motorists are advised to:
Keep to the right side of their lane to avoid oncoming traffic.
Drive at a safe speed and use fog lights.
Use turn signals to alert vehicles behind them.
Avoid high beams, as they reflect off the fog and reduce visibility.
If stopping is necessary, pull over completely off the road, switch on hazard lights, and stay clear of traffic.
Ease off the accelerator and use brakes carefully if needed.
The NCM’s broader weather forecast indicates partly cloudy skies across the UAE. Light to moderate winds between 10–20 km/h, occasionally reaching 30 km/h, may cause blowing dust and sand, which could be problematic for people with allergies.
Temperatures will remain high, ranging from 43 to 48°C nationwide. Coastal areas are expected to see temperatures between 36 and 45°C, while mountainous regions will be cooler, at around 30 to 36°C.
Humidity levels will be elevated, reaching 70–90 per cent in inland areas and 55–70 per cent in mountainous regions. Humidity is expected to rise further overnight and into Thursday morning, especially in coastal and inland zones. The Arabian Gulf will experience slight to moderate conditions, while the Oman Sea will remain slight.
