More rain to continue Saturday, NCM warns of convective clouds in parts of UAE

emirates7 - Following heavy rainfall with hail and thunderstorms in Al Ain yesterday evening, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has predicted continued showers over the weekend, with particularly notable rainfall expected this afternoon. Residents are advised to stay alert and prepared for changing weather conditions.

In Dubai, early morning temperatures were around 32°C. The day is expected to start fair but gradually turn partly cloudy, with a possibility of convective cloud formation in the eastern and southern regions during the afternoon, potentially bringing rain.

Across the UAE, temperatures will remain high, with coastal and island areas reaching highs of 42°C and evening lows near 35°C. Interior regions will experience more intense heat, ranging from 41°C to 46°C, while mountainous areas will remain cooler, with temperatures between 30°C and 36°C.

Winds will generally be light to moderate but could strengthen at times, reaching up to 40 km/h from southeasterly to northeasterly directions, potentially causing blowing dust and sand. Humidity will stay elevated across the country, ranging between 70% and 90%, adding to the heat discomfort.

The NCM forecasts a high likelihood of rainfall across the UAE continuing until Wednesday, September 10. This is linked to an eastward-moving surface low-pressure system combined with a weak upper-air low-pressure system, which promotes convective cloud development and expected showers. Meanwhile, sea conditions in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are expected to remain calm.
